Locket Tree
Find interesting glass bottles that are at least 10 inches high and have a wide base to provide stability to the finished display. The colors you choose reflect your individual taste. Labels may be incorporated into the display or removed for a more seamless appearance.
Cut five segments of wired twine; make each piece twice as tall as your glass bottle. A variation of an inch or two in length on each "branch" makes a good display tree without crowding the lockets among too many branches of a similar height.
Twist half of each wire into a spiral shape. Starting at one end, create a tight spiral that gradually opens into the straight portion of the wire, forming a graceful arch.
Place glass pebbles in the bottom of the bottle to act as weights and to keep the bottle balanced as you add lockets to the finished product.
Embed the wire forms into the pebble base within the bottle. The spiral forms will extend over the top and create graceful branches for hanging lockets. Make the branches a variety of heights to add interest to this display.
Locket Bust
Draw a life-size bust of a woman on heavy cardboard. Paint the portrait details with acrylic paints. Use your own style; realism is not mandatory.
Cut a large triangle of cardboard. Measure 2/3 of the total bust height for the long measurement and 4 inches across the bottom of the triangle as a base line. This will become the stand for the locket display.
Glue wrapping paper to the triangle and the back of the bust. Cover both sides of the triangle with this glued paper.
Fold the triangle in 1 inch from the long edge, and crease it sharply.
Place glue on this 1-inch section of the triangle stand, and place the wide base parallel to the bottom of the portrait form.
Lay a heavy book on top of the flattened bust with the glued stand attached, and allow it to sit overnight with this weight on top. This will secure the stand.
