How do I Care for Belleek?

According to Belleek Pottery's official website, Belleek Pottery was founded in the village of Belleek, Ireland in 1857 on the banks of the River Erne. The fine porcelain pottery is widely collected around the world for its unique and identifiable handmade patterns, its pearly luster and the intricate Victorian-inspired designs. Belleek Pottery sells its Irish pottery online as well as in select finer retail stores.

Instructions

    • 1
Belleek Pottery manufactures both functional and collectible pottery pieces.

Store Belleek Pottery out of direct sunlight in a display case or dust-free cabinet. Direct sunlight will fade the hand-painted glazes found on many pieces of Belleek Pottery.

    • 2
A hair dryer on the cool setting or canned air may be used to dust the pottery.

Dust Belleek Pottery regularly with a clean soft paint brush or a clean lint-free cotton cloth to keep dust and dirt from settling in the crevices.

    • 3

Immerse only fully glazed Belleek Pottery pieces in a deep sink filled with warm water and mild detergent for several minutes, lining the sink with cloths to prevent chipping. This should be done only if the pottery becomes highly soiled from dust.

    • 4

Rinse the pottery pieces well with warm running water until all traces of detergent are gone.

    • 5

Dry the pottery with a clean lint-free cloth and store.
