- The oldest rocks in Texas date back to the Precambrian era and can be found around Central Texas' Llano Uplift area. Stretching across the heart of Texas, the Llano uplift forms the hills around Llano.
Petrified Wood
- Those in search of petrified wood treasures cannot go wrong hunting around Bryan and College Station, Texas. Home of Texas A&M University, Bryan and College Station contain the largest concentration of petrified wood in Texas.
Gold Panning
- Texas Hill Country is an ideal location for Texas treasure hunters to pan for gold. The Llano River, reputed to be the best panning location in Texas, is situated in Llano County in Central Texas.

- South Padre Island is Texas' premier treasure-hunting locale. Those with metal detectors can search the island for Singer's lost gold and pieces of lost Texas history.

- Tech-savvy treasure hunters can search Texas for hidden treasures. Using small GPS tracking devices, treasure hunters scan a database for treasure locations. Central Texas is the most populated geocaching locale in Texas, but geocaching activities can occur statewide.
