Things You'll Need
Instructions
Hold the front of the pen behind the metal writing point (nib). Grip the barrel with the other hand and twist counterclockwise to unscrew it from the pen. Remove the spent ink cartridge by pulling it backward with a slight rocking motion. Insert the replacement and press it home with your thumb; you will feel it click into place. Slide the barrel back over the cartridge and tighten it by twisting clockwise. Write a few words to ensure that the ink is flowing properly.
Remove the barrel of the pen as described in Step 1 to use the ink converter. Hold the nib over an open ink bottle and twist the knob at the top of the ink converter counterclockwise to drive the piston forward and to expel any remaining ink. Lower the entire nib section into the ink until the base of the nib is submerged. Twist the knob clockwise several turns while holding the pen steady. You will feel resistance when the piston reaches the top of the converter.
Blot, don’t wipe the metal nib and the supporting black section on its underside. Dab gently with a clean tissue to remove all traces of ink residue. Replace the barrel and test the ink delivery system by writing a few words.
