Model Car Clubs in Kansas City

The Kansas City metropolitan area has four clubs that are dedicated to fans of scaled model automobiles, all with monthly meetings and other scheduled events such as swap meets, contests, exhibitions and shows. All of these clubs are affiliated with the International Plastic Modelers&' Society (IPMS) and three of them also include enthusiasts of building and showing other types of vehicle models from kits such as tanks, aircraft and aircraft carriers, and even space ships.

KC Slammers Club
- The largest and most organized model car club in the Kansas City area is KC Slammers. They are IPMS members who have been meeting since 1991 and host many local and regional events. Their regular meetings are the first Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the North Kansas City Community Center at 1999 Iron Street.

IPMS Great Plains Club
- They don&'t just work on plastic models as the "P" in IPMS would indicate, they also have some members who build from wood, resin and metal. The members meet at 7 p.m. on the last Thursday of each month at the Matt Ross Community Center located at 8101 Marty Street in Overland Park.

Kansas City AMPS Club
- The "AMPS" in their name is short for Armor Modeling and Preservation Society. Although this club&'s members are mostly interested in building models of military vehicles, all scale model car fans are welcomed. They meet at Walnut Manufacturing, 51 Kansas Avenue in Kansas City, Kansas on the third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m.

Show Me State Modelers Club
- Also known as the IPMS of West Central Missouri, The Show Me State Modelers specialize in warships but have many scale model car enthusiasts in their ranks. They meet the first Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the 1st Bank of Missouri, 5959 Antioch Road in North Kansas City.
