History of the Roman Seraphim Angels

Roman, Incorporated, started in 1963 by Ronald T. Jedlinski, distributes and produces decorative items, especially leaning toward the religious and inspirational. The company has several product lines, including Seraphim Classics, a line of decorative figurines that always features an angel.
  1. Debut

    • The Seraphim Classics collectible line debuted in 1994. It wasn't the company's first foray into collectibles. Roman began offering collectible plates in 1979 and debuted the Millenium Collection in 1992.

    Sculptor

    • Roman tapped Taiwanese sculptor Gaylord Ho to create the Seraphim Classics line. The sculptor had worked with the company before, having created items for Roman's Valencia Collection.

    Founding Vision

    • Gaylord Ho created the first sculptures of the Seraphim Classics line as "modern interpretations" of angels, according to Roman's company profile, taking Renaissance depictions as inspiration.

    Mature Style

    • The angels of the Seraphim Classics line are always dynamically depicted, each in action, with hair and garments flowing as a result. Examples include an angel blowing bubbles and one astride a horse.

    Philanthropy

    • In 1996, Roman debuted "Dawn-Sunshine's Guardian Angel" for The Sunshine Foundation, which started granting wishes to ill, disabled and abused children in 1976. Roman's donations to the foundation are over a half-million dollars as of 2009.

    Awards

    • The Seraphim Classics line has consistently earned industry awards. The company's website touts 16 awards as of late 2009.
