      Change the fluid. Use Zippo lighter fluid to refill the lighter when it runs out. The cotton filling must be saturated with fluid before you put the lighter back together.

      Clean the lighter off. Make sure to remove all lighter fluid from the outside of the lighter after refilling it.

      Fix jams. If the lighter will not light,then it is possible that it is jammed. Insert a piece of wire under the wheel to remove the obstruction.

      Maintain the outside surface. Follow the "care instructions" that come with the lighter, being sure to use only the cleaning methods prescribed to prevent harming the Zippo's physical appearance.
