In the 1950s, the Lladro brothers (José, Vincente and Juan) began creating porcelain sculptures in Valencia, Spain. They developed the distinctive pastel colors that mark Lladro figurines. The popularity of the company continued to grow through the 20th century, and its pieces are now highly valued collectibles. Learning to assess Lladro figurines can seem daunting because of the large number of figurines the company has produced, but by following some simple steps you can learn to evaluate this line of decorative porcelain.

  Consult the Lladro website. Check its comprehensive list of current figurines and historical catalog of discontinued pieces. Study the lists to get an idea of the scope of figures available and which ones are valuable because of their rarity.

  Visit auction sites such as eBay to see what individuals are willing to pay for Lladro figurines. Look at final bids on auctions that have closed to see what was paid for specific figurines.
