How to Repaint a Bisque Doll

Bisque ceramic dolls are popular collectibles and many older dolls can be very valuable. When they are new, bisque dolls reflect their paint well, and the colors appear bright and true. But as they age, dolls begin to lose their paint, dulling their coloring and dimming their personality. If you have a steady hand, you can enhance the existing colors to make the doll seem new again.

Things You'll Need

• Acrylic paint (in colors that match the faded areas of the doll)
• Brushes
• Tarp
• Water
• Smock
• Paper plate

     Lay down a tarp to protect your work area. Put on a smock to cover your clothing.

     Squeeze the acrylic paint onto a paper plate that will serve as a palette.

     Use an appropriate-size brush to apply a thin, even layer of paint to each faded area. Rinse the brushes in clean water between applications of color.
