How to Make Your Own Monster Cards

Collectible cards come in all varieties, including monster cards. Monster card sets have been made by various companies and artists throughout the years. They had their golden years from 1959 to 1969, and the cards produced in those years are the most valuable to collectors. New cards are being produced by Monsterwax, while old favorites, from Topps, are still popular. Although you can buy monster card sets, you can also make your own. But remember, if you use any copyrighted images, you cannot sell the homemade cards or otherwise make a profit from them. You can print them only for your own private enjoyment.

Instructions

    • 1

Gather the images you want on your monster cards. You'll likely find many suitable images on the Internet or you can scan in your own. Load the images into an image-editing software package, such as Adobe Photoshop.

    • 2

Size your images to the dimensions of a card. Arrange the images so that you can fit as many as possible on a standard 8-1/2-by-11-inch document.

    • 3

Add a text box with the pictured monster's name below the each image. You might want to include lines from a movie or comic that best represents the character.

    • 4

Number each card in another text box. You can place the number within the image or below it.

    • 5

Print your first page of cards on card stock. Try using white, glossy stock. Let the images dry before reloading the page into your printer to print on the back side.

    • 6

Select an appropriate back-of-card pattern. You might want to use a field of dots or diamonds, or a plaid or checkered pattern. Create a 8-1/2-by-11-inch document with just the pattern. Print this on the back of your monster cards' page.

    • 7

Cut the cards using a paper cutter for a sharp, smooth edge.

    • 8

Laminate the cards with a laminating machine to make them more durable.
