How to Clean Glue From Rubber Stamps

Many people avidly collect and use rubber stamps as part of their scrapbooking hobby. This hobby depends on maintaining rubber stamps in good condition. This is not possible if the stamp is not clean. Rubber stamps can be damaged by water, chemicals and general wear over time, which affects their quality and value. Cleaning the stamp is easy if it is done soon after use. Cleaning one particular threat to a rubber stamp, glue, can also be done easily if certain steps are followed.

Instructions

    • 1

Wet the sponge and squeeze it until it is just slightly damp. Place a dot of dish soap on the sponge and place it on the counter.

    • 2

Press the stamp onto the sponge and rub to remove any ink that may be masking the stain.

    • 3

Wet an area of the cloth and rub the glued-stained area of the stamp.

    • 4

Peel the glue from the stamp if it has at all loosened. If not, scrub the area until the glue begins to loosen or dissolve.

    • 5

Place a dab of acetone on a dry area of the cloth and rub the glued-stained area, if the glue is particularly strong or stubborn.
