Delicate collectible items such as Giuseppe Armani and Lladro figurines often are made of porcelain. This is a mixture of clay, glass and mullite fired at an extremely high temperature. Many modern figurines have a matte finish. Matte is a smooth, even surface free of shine or gloss. Collectibles of this caliber usually are quite valuable and require special care to keep them in pristine condition. It's important to know how to care for fine matte porcelain figurines to avoid damaging them and decreasing their beauty and worth.

Clean off stains by placing two soft towels in the bottom of a sink filled with warm water and a mild dish-washing detergent. If the figurine has an airhole, tape it over first. Submerge the figurine in water for a few seconds. Remove it from the water and wipe it off with a soft damp cloth, then dry with another soft cloth.
