Cleaning
Take off the doll's clothing.
Remove any dust that has accumulated with a hair dryer. Place the setting on cool and carefully blow off the layer of dust. Alternatively, wipe down the doll with a clean cloth.
Find a test area on the doll. This is usually a spot that can be covered with clothing.
Wipe the test area with a piece of cloth soaked in plain water. If there is no damage done to the paint, proceed to carefully wipe down the rest of the doll.
Clean the ears, mouth and eyes with a cotton swab lightly dipped in plain water.
If the plain water is not sufficient enough to thoroughly clean an area of the doll, use a small amount of mild dish soap. Lightly use a circular motion to clean the soiled spot. Carefully rinse the soap off and allow the doll to air dry before redressing.
Storage
Wrap the dolls in acid-free paper or a soft cloth.
Store your dolls in archival boxes instead of plastic or cardboard containers, both of which could contain chemicals that could damage your dolls. For further protection, place dolls with glass eyes face down in the container.
Place the packed archival boxes in an area that is dark, dry and away from any pets.
