How to Remove Mold From a Barbie Doll

Barbie dolls can endure a chaotic existence. From crayon and pen marks to mold growing in the joints, this small doll can end up looking a wreck. The only way to deal with these problems, especially mold, is to clean the doll. You need to gently wash the doll and then use a cleanser that is harsh enough to kill the mold, but gentle enough to avoid damaging the doll. You may need to repeat the process a few times depending on how bad the mold problem is.

Instructions

    • 1

Rinse the Barbie doll in warm water. Dampen the wash cloth with warm water and apply enough soap to the cloth to make bubbles. Gently scrub the Barbie doll, removing as much dirt and mold as possible. Rinse the Barbie doll again with warm water. Rinse out the washcloth, apply more soap and scrub the doll again. Rinse well again.

Mix six cups of warm water and 1/4 cup of color-safe bleach in a plugged sink. Place doll in mixture, making sure the entire doll stays underwater. Let the doll soak for 15 minutes.

    • 3

Remove doll from mixture and drain sink. Rinse doll well with warm water.

    • 4

Apply a few drops of conditioner to your hand and stroke it gently through the doll's hair. This will prevent the harsh chemicals from drying the doll's hair. Rinse well with warm water.

    • 5

Gently pat your Barbie doll dry. Place the doll in a standing or sitting position and let it dry for at least 12 hours.
