History
Beatrix Potter was the English author who created Peter Rabbit and his friends, including Mr. Jeremy Fisher the frog. Jeremy Fisher was first introduced in "The Tale of Jeremy Fisher" in 1906. Ty began producing the Beatrix Potter Collection in 2006. The collection also includes Jemima Puddle-duck, Mr. Tod, Peter Rabbit, Tome Kitten and Pigling Bland.
Time Frame
The Beatrix Potter Collection was introduced by Ty in 2006. As of 2009, all of the Beanie Babies in this collection are still considered current. The Beatrix Potter Collection was introduced as a U.K. exclusive, making the whole collection worth more to collectors in the United States. Jeremy Fisher and the rest of the collection were first available at Harrod's department stores throughout the U.K. Collectors in America and around the world can still purchase Jeremy Fisher through online toy stores and Beanie Baby brokers.
Features
All of the characters in the Beatrix Potter collection come in two versions. One version features gold lettering in their clothing. The second version features blue lettering. The Jeremy Fisher Beanie Baby has a generation 14 hang tag and a generation 13 tush tag. The toy measures about 8 inches long.
Condition
Values will increase if the Beanie Baby is in mint condition with the tush tag and hang tag still intact. The tags should not be bent, torn or have any writing on them. Many Beanie Baby collectors use plastic tag protectors to keep hang tags in mint condition. Beanie Babies will also have a higher value over time if they are kept in a pet-free, smoke-free area.
Value
In the United States, a Jeremy Fisher Beanie Baby in mint condition is worth $15 to $20, but it is expected to add value once the Beatrix Potter Beanie Baby collection is retired. Other characters in the collection can be purchased for $15 to $30. The whole collection is worth $90 to $150. Once retired, the Jeremy Fisher Beanie Baby can be expected to double in value because it is a U.K. exclusive.
