How to Display Diecast Models

Knowing how to best display a quality diecast model can be a challenge. If you have several of them to display together, then you may want---or need---to take a different approach than if you are just displaying one. There is no one right way to do this.

Instructions

    • 1

Use a display case to protect your diecast model from dust and other elements. Decide where in your house you want to display your model. Are you going to put it in the living room, recreation room, bedroom or office? If you put your model in a room with a certain kind of woodwork, then the finish on the case should match that as much as possible.

    • 2

Put your diecast models in a wall cabinet case if you are going to display an entire collection of items. The display case should match the rest of the furniture in the room as much as possible. Consider either getting a case with interior lighting, or installing lights yourself, so that your models can stay on display, even when the other lights are off.

    • 3

Consider using a flat base with a glass or plastic cover that's transparent on all sides for a single model. Make sure that the cover is strong enough to withstand having a bit of weight put on it, for safety's sake.

Consider purchasing---or making---a coffee table with a transparent top. This can create an excellent conversation piece for guests. Regardless of what manner of cabinet you use, be sure to mount an engraved label giving the year, make and model of your model.
