Instructions
Wash the article of clothing in cold water on the gentle cycle. Don't overwash it or put it in the dryer with any other articles of clothing.
Use an iron or blowdryer to set the signature. The heat from the appliance sets the ink so it's more resistant to fading after repeated washings.
Embroider or sew along the signature. This does not protect the signature against fading, but it will ensure that a version of the signature is always on the article of clothing.
Put the article of clothing in the dryer on the highest heat setting for 30 minutes. The heat from the dryer sets the ink so it's more resistant to fading after repeated washings.
Coat the autograph with a clear fabric paint. If you decide this method is right for you, be sure to test it first on another article of clothing.
Frame the article of clothing or purchase a memorabilia box. This is the best way to ensure that the autograph you waited in line for is preserved completely.
