How to Price a Star Trek Collection

You've been collecting "Star Trek" paraphernalia for years but you don't know how much it's worth. You'd like to get idea of what someone would pay for your cherished pieces even if you don't plan to sell them just yet. Follow these tips to price a "Star Trek" collection.

Instructions

    • 1

Check eBay. See what prices people are paying for different "Star Trek" items. Realize that this site may not have the best prices because people don't like to pay much for items on eBay. You may get a lower price than the item is worth.

    • 2

Search the Kijiji website. People in this site ask what they want for each item. Search the advertisements to see what people are selling and how much the items are worth.

    • 3

Prices change over time. Different series are worth different amounts depending on what collectors want at any given time. This is subject to change. Availability also impacts the value.

    • 4

Look at the condition of the items you have. You will receive a higher price if the item is in mint condition and if you have original packaging. Age also makes a difference. In may cases, the older the item, the better. If all parts are there and all pieces of a set are there, it will be worth more.

    • 5

Search collectible sites and Star trek sites for prices. Your piece may be valuable if it is rare or if you have a large collection. You must know if your item is a limited edition, an original or a reproduction and how many were made.

    • 6

Look at a "Star Trek" catalogue for hints on prices. You will find prices for novels, magazines, books, clothing and DVDs. Read "Star Trek Communicator" magazine or "Star Trek Magazine" for information on collectible. Subscribe to e-zines and newsletters for up-to-date information.

Join a "Star Trek" chat group or forum. Ask other people what they paid or would pay for certain items. Read message boards for hints, tips and recommendations.
