Things You'll Need
Instructions
Connect the RCA end of the audio adapter to the two speaker outputs located on the rear of the record turntable. The RCA end consists of two connectors that are usually color-coded red and white. It does not matter which connector is connected to each speaker output.
Connect the 1/8-inch end of the adapter to the microphone input located on your computer tower. You'll often see a microphone icon printed above the 1/8-inch microphone input.
Place the record you wish to digitize into the turntable. Turn on the turntable and computer.
Locate and open the audio recording software on your computer. If you don't already own an audio recording program, download a free program, such as Audacity, for PCs, or Final Vinyl, for Macs.
Create a new audio file in your recording software. Name the file after the first song you want to record from the record. Create a new audio track within that file. Refer to the user's manual included with your recording software for specific steps on how to create new audio files and tracks.
Carefully place the record needle onto the track you wish to record from the record, while simultaneously clicking on the "Record" button on your audio recording software. The "Record" button is usually a red circle located next to the audio track on the screen. Press the "Stop" button on the recording software once the song has finished playing on the record.
Minimize the audio recording program window, and then right-click on your desktop and select "New Folder." Name that folder after the album you are attempting to digitize. Maximize the recording software window, and then go to "File" and select "Save As" in the "File" drop-down menu. Navigate to the folder you created on the desktop, and then select that folder as the destination for the song you just recorded. Click on the "Save" button. Repeat this procedure for each song on the record album.
