How to Repair Arrowheads

Arrowheads were parts of weapons made from Native Americans who used them to tip arrows and spears in order to hunt and protect themselves. You can find a lot of arrowheads when you visit Native American territories, and most of the time, the arrowheads will be broken into several pieces. If you're lucky enough to find all of the pieces, you need to find a way to stick them back together into one complete arrowhead. After the arrowhead is put back together, you can put it on display or sell it if you like.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Lay down a towel and place the arrowhead pieces on the towel. Put the magnifying glass over the arrowhead so you can see what you're doing.

    • 2

Lay out a few paper towels to use during the gluing process. You will need at least one damp paper towel. Choose a small paint brush that will allow you to apply the epoxy to the broken surfaces.

    • 3

Open the epoxy glue and dampen the end of your paintbrush. Carefully apply the epoxy to the broken surface of the main piece of arrowhead and then to the piece you will attach.

    • 4

Hold the two pieces together firmly for at least 15 seconds. Depending on the type of epoxy you are using, you may need to hold the pieces together for up to two minutes. Read the instructions on the label to find out the holding time.

    • 5

Allow the epoxy to dry for at least 24 hours before putting the arrowhead away or up on display.
