Things You'll Need
Instructions
Wash your quartz crystal so that all dust, dirt and oil is removed from the stone. Dry it with a blow-dryer and examine the stone as you dry it. Wear latex gloves to keep your fingerprints and oils off the stone.
Examine how smooth the stone is. If it's a recently dug up quartz crystal point, you may need to grind and polish it with a mechanical grinder. If that's the case, use a rotary polisher with progressively finer and finer wheels until you've ground and polished the stone to a flat finish. If on the other hand the stone is already flat, or you like it the way it is, there's no need to grind off more stone.
Wipe the stone in small, circular motions with a polishing material. Cotton swabs, cotton balls, cotton cloth, smooth leather and other materials are all useful for polishing crystal quartz. You are buffing the facets of the stone, making sure that the shine is as perfect as you can make it. Once again, wear latex or soft cloth gloves and be sure you don't skip the nooks and crannies in the stone while buffing it to a shine.
