How to Make a Rock Bucket

Rock collecting is hard work, but fun. While you're gathering gear, including safety glasses for eye protection, gloves to protect you hands and digging tools and chisels to help you uncover collection-worthy rocks, don't forget a rock bucket. On your next collecting adventure, bring a homemade rock bucket to carry supplies and to tote finds to the site for cleaning and identification. Store your collection in your special bucket, or keep it empty and ready for your next outing in an instant.

Instructions

    • 1
Acrylic craft paint is suitable for most surfaces.

Paint your name on the side of the bucket or make up a name such as "Rock Collector" or "Explorer."

    • 2

Write your phone number, email address or other contact information on the bottom of the bucket in case it is lost.

    • 3
Decorate your bucket with the smallest rocks.

Embellish the bucket by attaching small rocks with hot glue. Follow a pattern, such as a rim of tiny rocks around the top or bottom edge.

    • 4

Spray the bucket with clear coat and let it dry.

    • 5
Keep a bandanna on hand for protection from the sun.

Tie a bandanna or cloth onto the handle for emergency use or for drying your hands or wiping away dirt.
