Clean the emerald. Using a damp rag and dish soap, clean the emerald then wipe it dry with a paper towel.
Mix the finish thoroughly. Without thinning the finish, use a power drill or mixing blade to mix the finish at a low speed.
Pour the solution into a backpack sprayer. Applying the finish with a brush or roller can make the coating uneven when it dries.
Lay the emerald on a flat cardboard box. Spray the emerald evenly then work the coating into the surface to increase linkage and remove pinholes.
Let the emerald dry on the cardboard. Re-spray the stone, if you need a more refined coat.
