Centrino CPU Speed Differences

The Intel Centrino line of processors is designed for mobile notebook computers. The Centrino line comes in a wide range of speeds, allowing for budgets of all types to enjoy the benefits of this type of CPU. Knowing the range of speed differences in the Centrino line can help you to plan your next computer purchase.

Lower-End Processors
- The lower-end Centrino processors typically fall beneath the 2.0 GHz speed rating, including a 1.2 GHz processor and a 1.6 GHz processor. These are the slowest speed processors offered by the Centrino line.
Mid-range
- The mid-range Centrino models fall between 2 GHz to 2.5 GHz,and include a 2.13 GHz model, a 2.26 GHz model and a 2.4 GHz model. These are relatively fast units that can keep pace with most desktop models.
High range
- Over the 2.5 GHz speed mark is where the faster Centrino processors lay. They include a 2.53 GHz model, a 2.66 GHz model, and a 2.8 GHz model. These processors can keep pace with all but the fastest desktop processors under most circumstances.
