Kennebunkport Beaches
Gooch's Beach, also known as Kennebunk Beach, is a fine, sandy beach that is a favorite of beachcombers. Middle Beach is a rocky beach with some sandy patches and nice views of the Atlantic Ocean; it is not as crowded as Gooch's Beach, but it's also not as good for locating sea glass.
Cobscook Bay
Cobscook Bay, part of the Bay of Fundy, is located in an area known for its extreme tides --- which is good news for sea glass aficionados. It is a quiet, less crowded location than many other coastal Maine towns. Shackford's Head in Eastport, Gleason's Cove in Perry, and Lubec, the easternmost community in the United States, are all areas with abundant sea glass.
Cranberry Island Beaches
The Cranberry Isles is a group of five islands: Great Cranberry, Little Cranberry, Baker, Bear and Sutton. Guests generally visit the first two islands, which must be reached by boat from Mt. Desert Island. Great Cranberry Island has less than 50 year-round residents; the Island Girl Sea Glass shop, run by Kelly O. Profenno, is located on Little Cranberry Island.
Bar Island in Bar Harbor
According to Barbara Weibel, author if Uptake Beach's "Top Ten Beaches for Collecting Sea Glass," sea glass has a tendency to collect at the high tide line on Bar island, which is a part of Acadia National Park. The beach is directly north of the West Street town pier in Bar Harbor. Check for local times of low tide to avoid getting stuck on the island.
Penobscot Bay Beaches
Deer Isle is the second largest of Maine's coastal islands, and one of many islands in Penobscot Bay. Lincolnville Beach is a small, sandy beach between Camden and Belfast.
Other Beaches
Fish Beach on Monehegan Island is a rocky island 10 miles from the nearest mainland, and a favorite location for artists and sea glass enthusiasts in the Boothbay Harbor area.
