Things You'll Need
Instructions
Buy sheets of glass from a craft or glass store. Cut up the sheets into small pieces of glass.
Put the glass into an acid bath or rock tumbler. Both processes will eat away at the glass until the jagged edges become smooth and rounded.
Find old beer bottles and jars. Break them apart into glass pieces and put them into the tumbler or acid bath. This process will give your sea glass a more authentic look.
Etch the glass in an acid bath after tumbling it. This will mirror the hydration process that authentic sea glass goes through and give it a frosty appearance.
Know that fake sea glass is often spotted quickly if it's too vibrant a color. Red, yellow, turquoise and purple sea glass are very uncommon, so if you produce a lot of it, people will know it's a fake.
Stick with brown, green or amber colored sea glass for the most authentic look.
