Jar of Shells
If you have a large number of small shells, particularly if they are in a similar shape and have similar coloration, pour them into a clear glass jar. Tie a pretty ribbon around the jar or cover the top of the jar with fabric and secure it with a rubber band. Place the jar in a window as a decoration. This simple seashell decoration is an excellent way to prevent a large number of seashells from becoming lost or scattered.
Mini-Beach
If you love the beach and want to use your seashells as a reminder of a pleasant time, create a mini-beach for your desk. Fill a small plain terrarium with white play sand and scatter your shells across the sand. To give your mini-beach a little bit of life, place some air plants or succulents in the sand as well. This makes a different and imaginative desk adornment, especially if you have no windows and would love a touch of nature in your office.
Chimes
If you have large seashells, drill holes in them so you can tie fishing wire to them and suspend them from a hanger or a stick of driftwood. Hang them in a window or in another place where the wind can reach them. The wind will cause the seashells to brush against each other, creating a melodious chime. Hang the seashells at slightly different heights to mitigate strong clashing sounds and to create an aesthetically pleasing look for your shell chime display.
Picture Frame
Combine your seashells with a useful item by using them to decorate a picture frame. Use hot glue to mount seashells to a a plain picture frame and place a picture of your beach vacation into the frame itself. Use a wide variety of seashells for a wild, nautical look, or use several identical seashells to create a pleasantly unified border.
