      Place the abalone shell in a sink and turn the water on. The water temperature does not matter.

      Brush the inside of the abalone shell with a toothbrush. This will remove any abalone meat or dirt from the interior of the shell. Be gentle to avoid breaking the shell. Turn the water off.
