Visit a collectors' pricing website such as TuffStuff.com or Beckett.com. These are two of the most popular websites that determine the value of sports cards. The companies also publish price guides. Some websites charge a small subscription fee.
Determine the identification of the sports card. The manufacturer, year printed and card number are usually printed on the back of the card.
Evaluate the physical condition and imperfections of the cards. A sports card in mint condition has sharp corners and correct centering, with no signs of wear or imperfections. Excellent-mint cards may have two or three minor imperfections but must have original gloss. Sports cards lacking some original gloss, and sharp corners, rate in excellent condition. Very good condition cards lack most of the original gloss and show obvious handling. A crease that is not severe doesn't diminish a very good rating. Good, fair and poor cards are obviously very worn and have several major imperfections.
Look up the value of the card on the price guide based on the information collected.
