How to Grade Non-Sports Cards

Grading non-sports trading cards is similar to grading sports cards. You will need to research the company you send your cards to and protect the cards sent in for grading. If you anticipate receiving a high-grade for your non-sport cards, your primary responsibility is to make sure the card is protected in transit.

Instructions

    • 1

Decide if the card is worth the cost of grading. It typically costs more than ten dollars to have a card graded. If you're collecting for pleasure rather than investment, the costs of grading non-sport cards can be daunting.

    • 2

Mail the card to the grading company of your choice. There are three primary grading companies: PSA, Beckett and SGC. Research the different companies and the options they provide to decide which is best for you.

    • 3

Print and fill out the submission paperwork that will be sent in with your card.

    • 4

Protect the card by encasing it in a protective holder. Send the card in its protective holder, in a bubble mailer to prevent damage.

    • 5

When your card is returned, it will have a grade from 1 to 10. The higher the grade, the better overall condition of the card.
