Identification
Ensure the card is authentic and not a reprint. Many, but not all, legitimate original cards illustrate an authentic hand-signed autograph by the rookie player. If you are unsure whether the card is authentic, enlist the opinion of a baseball card grading company.
Considerations
You may want to purchase rookie cards only from trusted sources to ensure authenticity and fair transactions. You also should consider obtaining a price guide to confirm the card is priced fairly, because the value of rookie cards fluctuates.
Warning
Not all all cards advertised as minor league rookie cards are a player's true rookie card. The card should feature information about a player's rookie season and should be part of a set. Before buying a rookie card, obtain a credible guarantee from the seller that the cards are authentic.
