How to Remove a Card From a PSA Holder

PSA is a company that authenticates autographs and grades collectible cards, such as baseball cards. A grade is given to the card based on the condition of the card. Once the card is inspected by a PSA employee, the card is then placed inside of a PSA card holder for safe keeping. On the outside of the card holder, a sticker is placed with the grade of the card. Removing the card from the card holder can cause serious damage to the card and will void the PSA grading. There is no easy way to get the card out or open the holder. The holder must be broken open and destroyed to get the card out.

Instructions

    • 1

Gently slide the top of the card holder upward. This will create a small separation between the top and bottom piece of the card holder. This will also allow you to see the eight places where the card holder is pieced together.

    • 2

Attempt to push upwards on the top corner of the card holder that's hanging over the edge of the bottom piece. This may break the corner or help separate the top piece of the card holder from the bottom piece. Continue pressing upwards on both the left and right corners until a corner is broken or the top and bottom pieces begin to separate.

    • 3

Pry open the card holder using a butter knife or screwdriver. Place the butter knife or screwdriver in the hole or separated area and continue to lift upward until the case is pried off. While doing this, ensure not to scrape or apply pressure to the card.

    • 4

Remove the card once the case has been pried or broken open.
