How to Find the Value of Racing Cards

Racing cards have been around for many years and are popular collectibles to this day. Some rare racing cards exist from over twenty years ago. Finding out if your old Dale Earnhardt and Richard Petty cards are some of these rare cards is easy to do. Looking through price guides is still common, but with the Internet's vast storehouse of racing card information, online sources may be just as reliable as any price guide, and more up-to-date as well.

Instructions

    • 1

Look through a racing card price guide. Tuff Stuff and Beckett guides are the biggest and most trusted guides in the business. They are well-respected in the card community and list realistic prices for the cards.

    • 2

Search eBay for your card. Check how much the card is already selling for. If your card is listed with a "Buy it Now" price of $2, then that is the maximum price you are likely to ever get for it.

    • 3

Check online card dealers. Type "buy racing cards" into a search engine. See how much these businesses are selling your cards for.

    • 4

Visit local sports cards shops. See if they are selling any of the cards you have. Ask the owners if they know how much your cards are worth. Be aware that a card shop will offer only half or less of what it will resell your cards for.

    • 5

Attend local card shows and NASCAR events. Meeting other fans and collectors can give you a good idea of what your cards are really worth.
