Instructions
Store your more valuable cards in Ultra-Pro One-Touch magnetic holders. These thick holders sandwich the card inside of two sturdy plastic pieces that are held together by two small magnets, making it easy to transfer cards in and out. Open the holder at the top by pulling the two pieces apart. Place your card in the recessed area, and close the holder at the top.
Put your less valuable cards in Card Savers. These holders are made of thin plastic, but they do not take up much room, allowing for more to be stored in a small area. Carefully slide the card into the opening at the top. Do not force the card in. Gently squeeze the Card Saver on either side to help open the top. Make sure that the top of the card is not sticking out.
Use a top loader for medium-level protection. Top loaders are thicker than Card Savers, but thinner than the One-Touch holders. Slide the card in at the top, being careful to not ding the corners or scratch the surface.
Keep your cheapest cards in penny sleeves. Slide the card into the sleeve from the top. The thinnest plastic holders available, these typically do not protect a card if it is dropped or accidentally hit. They do, however, keep oil from the hands from damaging the card.
Arrange your cards in nine-pocket pages and binders. Typical plastic pages hold nine cards. Slide the cards into each slot, then place the sheets into a three-ring binder. Use a D-ring binder, as the rings will not put pressure on the cards when the binder is closed. Stand the binders up. Do not stack them flat, as this can put too much pressure on the cards, potentially damaging their surface.
Place large quantities of cards in cardboard boxes made specifically for 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 inch cards. These can hold hundreds to thousands of cards.
Store your cards in a dark, dry area away from direct light.
