Things You'll Need
Instructions
Start with a template. Sports and trading cards are 2 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 inches. When creating your template on your graphic design program, make sure it fits this specific size.
Create the background for the card. You can use an image if you like; for information on how to add an image, skip ahead to step three. If you want to use a simple background, find the rectangle tool on the left of the screen and use it to create colored rectangles that will give a more interesting background to the image. Play around with different shapes, sizes, colors and numbers to create a unique sports card.
Every trading card has some sort of image on the actual card itself. Adding this image to your design is simple. If you already have the image on your computer, you simply need to use the "place" tool to actually place the image onto the template. If you would like to find a new image, search for and download an image from the Internet and use the "place" tool to add it to your card design.
Place text on your card. Use the text box tool to add information to your sports card. If you are making a card for a team, add the team name to the card, as well as information about the specific player on each card. On the back of the card you should add interesting facts and statistics about the players to make each card more personal. Be sure to fill up the cards; sports cards often have a back full of statistics and information.
Take a final look at your card. Spell check your text and make sure that there are not any typos on your card.
The final part of designing your own cards comes in the production process. You've designed both sides of the card; how do you get it to come together? The best thing to do is to take the cards to a print shop. They can easily print both sides of the paper correctly to make the process simple and easy.
