How to Make Your Own Baseball Card

Find a good photograph of the baseball player you want on your card. If it's a pro player, look for team photos of him in a pose online through his official team page. If it's a player from a smaller league or a Little League player, speak to the individual organization about getting ahold of good pictures.

Scan the player's photo into a computer and save an electronic copy for use later.

Get the player's number, his team name, the position he plays and all of his pitching or batting stats. If possible, organize his stats year-by-year since he first joined his respective league. Otherwise, just stick to the most recent year he was in the league. For big-league players, you can find stats at the home page for Major League Baseball (see Resources below).

Use a graphic design program like InDesign, Quark Express or Adobe Photoshop to design a surrounding frame for your baseball card. Most baseball cards measure 2 1/2 inches wide by 3 1/2 inches long. Your frame should include a great deal of space for the picture, but also spaces for the player's name, number, team and position. Design a second frame for the back of the baseball card, with space for his stats and maybe a few sentences about his background if you can fit it.

Fit the scanned picture into the box, then add the player's name, number and other stats into the positions you have laid out.

Print the card out using a color printer. If you can manage it, use white card stock instead of printing paper and print the back side as well as the front. Online companies such as PlainCards offer punch-out printing paper appropriate for baseball cards (see Resources below).

Use a pair of scissors to cut your card out. If you printed it out on regular paper, glue the front side and the back to an existing baseball card -- a cheap or common type that isn't worth much. Wait for the glue to dry before handling it.
