Selling your baseball card collection can be time consuming, but if you really want to get much out of it, you must be patient. Consider all your options before making a final decision.
If you are interested in selling more modern cards from recent years and/or you want to sell a decent amount of cards, but not your entire collection, eBay may be a good place for you. There are quite a few people who have put together a nice size lot of baseball cards on eBay and earned a solid amount of money from it. The key here is putting lots of pictures in your auction. Potential buyers want to see what your cards look like, so let them see!
Before selling your baseball card collection, consider this fact, it is very often the older card that is well taken care of that sells the best. These are considered vintage baseball cards. If you have a very valuable baseball card that is from a recent year, it might be a better strategic move to hold on to it and sell it several years down the road.
Looking to sell your cards to an individual dealer? This is also an effective way to sell cards, but you have to be careful to not sell them at ridiculously low price. A good way to find dealers who are serious about buying collections is looking at the Beckett Monthly Price Guides in the classified section. Do not just go to your local trading card store and sell your entire collection for peanuts. Some local store owners will give you a very low offer on purpose, hoping that you won't know any better.
If you want to sell a large collection of baseball cards it is very effective to sort the cards before selling them. I suggest sorting them by year, or by make (eg. Topps, Fleer, Donruss, etc.). This makes it look more professional and increases your chances of getting a higher bid.
