How to Frame a Stamp

You need special equipment ̵1; stamp tongs and a stamp sleeve -- to frame a stamp properly. Simply peeling it off its backing and licking it to adhere it to a frame will ruin its value. Instead, use framing methods that will keep your stamp securely in place without activating the existing adhesive on the back.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the inside area of your picture frame. Cut two pieces of art mat to this size. Cut one white piece and one red piece.

    • 2

Slide your stamp into a stamp sleeve using a pair of stamp tongs. The stamp sleeve is a little clear plastic pouch specifically designed to hold your stamp in place. It has one adhesive side so you can press it into the center of the frame.

    • 3

Cut a square into the center of your red art mat. The square should be half an inch longer on all sides than your stamp.

    • 4

Place a piece of art putty on the corners of the white art mat. Stick the red art mat on top of the white mat and press the corners together so they stick.

    • 5

Press the stamp into the center of the red mat, right in the hole you created. The red creates a decorative frame while the white created an attractive backing.

    • 6

Slide the stamp along with the mat pieces into your frame. Close the frame and hang it on the wall.
