How to Collect Stamp Sheets

Collecting sheets of stamps is a rewarding hobby because it does not require a large financial investment and is accessible to a broad range of people. Deciding on a theme can shape your collection and increase the fun factor. Perhaps you are interested in different countries, flowers, musicians, actors or even holidays. A stamp sheet consists of many stamps of the same person or topic, and is about the size of a piece of typing paper. That makes it easy to store as well as easy to collect.

A great source for collectors is the United States Postal Service. You can order stamp sheets from the postal service on a broad range of subjects. Or check with local post offices to see what sheets they carry. The American Philatelic Society maintains a list of dealer members on its Web site. You can also review the "Scott Catalogue," from by the Scott Publishing Co. Its volumes are published annually, list stamps from countries around the world, and are available at most public libraries.
