How to Separate Stamps That Are Stuck to Each Other

Stamp collecting is a great hobby that families can enjoy together. Whether you collect stamps from around the world or begin a valuable collection of historic and collector stamps, you'll have loads of fun and learn a great deal about culture and history. When collecting valuable stamps, the most important thing to remember is that the stamps must remain in mint condition. This means that the glue and ink must be unharmed. While this sounds simple enough, it may be tricky to remember when you have two stamps stuck together.

Place the stamps on the ironing board and cover them with the handkerchief.

    • 3

Gently iron the stamps with three passes of the hot iron.

    • 4

Remove the stamps from the handkerchief and gently pull the stamps apart with stamp tweezers. This process softens the glue temporarily without ruining it, so work fast.
