List of USPS Lighthouse Stamps

The United States Postal Service commissioned stamp artist Howard E. Paine and Art Director Howard Paine to design a series of Lighthouse stamps. The USPS issued the first lighthouse stamps in 1990. The stamps continue to depict the romance, history and reminder America's maritime past.
  1. Lighthouses

    • The premiere release of the 1990 Lighthouses was apart of a series of stamp commemorating the U.S. Coast Guard bicentennial and the U.S. Lighthouse Service. The 24-cent 1990 Lighthouses represented one lighthouse from each of the main coastal regions in the United States. In addition, the 1990 Lighthouse is smaller than the proceeding lighthouse series. It featured the Admiralty Head lighthouse in Washington, the Cape Hatteras lighthouse in North Carolina, the West Quoddy Head lighthouse in Maine, the American Shoals lighthouse in Florida and the Sandy Hook lighthouse in New Jersey.

    Great Lakes Lighthouses Series

It is a series of five different 32-cent lighthouses including the Split Rock lighthouse near Lake Superior, the Spectacle Reef near Lake Huron, the St. Joseph lighthouse near Lake Michigan, the Thirty Mile Point near Lake Ontario and the Marblehead lighthouse near Lake Erie. The Great Lakes Lighthouse Series focused on a particular region and depicted one lighthouse for each of the five Great Lakes, Additionally, the stamps provided the traditional water-activated adhesive.
