How to Order Postal Stamps

Stamps are attached to letters sent through the United States Postal Service (USPS) to show that you have paid the necessary postage to have it mailed. They also make great collectibles, because the USPS releases new stamps every year that often commemorate important events or portray other items of interest. These stamps are generally only available for a short time. Whether you want stamps for mailing letters or for collecting, you can order them online and have them delivered to your home.

  Visit the USPS website at http://www.usps.gov. Click on the "Buy Stamps and Shop" button located in the header.

  Choose either the "Stamps" or "For Collecting" category, and click on it. The "Stamps" category sells stamps that are primarily for postage uses. The "For Collecting" section also has stamps that can be used for postage but contains the more decorative stamps for collecting.

  Select the stamp product you wish to buy, and click "buy." This should automatically take you to your shopping cart. You may continue shopping if you wish, otherwise continue to the next step.

  Click the "check-out" button. You will be asked to log in, or to register, if you do not have an account with the USPS website. To sign up for an account, click on "sign-up."

  Enter a user name, password and password hint question with answer to register. Then click the "continue" button. At the next screen, fill in your profile information. The red asterisks mean that a line is required. Click "continue," review your information and then click "continue" again.

  Read and accept the terms and agreements, and click "continue" again. This will return you to your shopping car. Click "check-out" again.

  Confirm that your shipping address is the one you registered, or select "create new address," enter your shipping address and save it. Then click the "continue" button.

  Enter your credit card information, and select your billing address, or create a new billing address by clicking "add address."

  Review your order to confirm that all your billing and shipping information is correct. Click "finish" to complete your order. There will be a receipt page; you can copy the information for your records.
