How to Make a Bracelet With Monster Tabs That is Only One-Sided

Pop can tab bracelets are a form of up-cycling or recycling pop can tabs and using them to make jewelry. Pop can tab bracelets are made by interweaving elastic cord through the holes of overlapped pop can tabs. Ribbon, bright colored plastic strings, safety pins, bracelet charms and beads can all be used to embellish a pop can tab bracelet. You can make your own one-sided monster tab bracelet by placing the Monster tabs on the top layer of the interwoven tabs and using silver pop can tabs as the bottom layer.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Cut a 2 1/2-feet piece of elastic cord. Insert one end of the cord into the top hole of a Monster tab and the other end of the cord into the bottom hole of the Monster tab. Hold both ends in your right hand while sliding Monster tab to the center of the cord. When the tab is at the center, the cord ends should be on the right side of the tab.

    • 2

Place a pop can tab underneath the Monster tab with the rough edges of the bottom of the tabs facing each other to create a smooth surface. Move the side of the bottom tab over so that it is halfway under the holes of the first tab. Move the top cord end underneath the bottom tab and insert it up into the top hole of the bottom tab. Pull the cord through and drape it over the right side of the Monster tab. Move the bottom cord end underneath the bottom tab and insert it up into the lower hole of the bottom tab. Pull the cord up through and drape it over the right side of the Monster tab.

Place a Monster tab next to the top Monster tab, and overlap the bottom tab so that its right side can be seen through the new Monster tab holes. Cross the top cord end over and down, and insert it into the new Monster tab's bottom hole, and through the bottom hole of the bottom tab. Cross the bottom cord up and insert it into the new Monster tab's top hole and through the top hole of the bottom tab to create an X shape with the cord.

Place a pop can tab underneath the right Monster tab, cross over the cord ends and insert them into the opposite holes of the new Monster tab and through the holes of the bottom tab. Add another Monster tab. Continue making X shapes with the elastic cord by crossing the top cord over to the bottom Monster tab hole and pulling it through and crossing the bottom cord up to the top Monster tab hole and pulling it through. Keep alternating between placing a Monster tab on top and a silver pop can tab on bottom to create a one sided Monster tab bracelet.

Keep adding pop can tabs and Monster tabs until the bracelet is long enough to wrap comfortably around your wrist. Bring the cord ends together and make an X shape with the end cords to connect the tabs at both ends of the bracelet. Thread the cord ends under the crossed cord of a neighboring tab. Tie the ends off in a knot and trim them down to a desired length.
