Instructions

    • 1

Select a bottle cap to use in your project. Larger bottle caps such as those on milk cartons and Gatorade® bottles work particularly well for making Christmas tree ornaments, but any bottle cap will do.

    • 2

Select a screw eye. Brass screw eyes are particularly attractive, but any screw eye can be used as long as the eye is a size suitable for hanging from a tree.

    • 3

Drill a hole in the top of the bottle cap. The hole drilled should be a little bit smaller than the screw portion of the screw eye. Screw the screw eye into the hole. Adjust the screw eye so it is straight and so that it sits perpendicular to the face of the bottle cap. Note that how you place the screw eye will determine how the Christmas tree ornament hangs.

    • 4

Select a favorite photograph. Cut the photograph so that it snugly fits inside the bottle cap you plan to use for the project. Coat the photograph with a clear drying glue (such as Mod Podge® or Elmer's). Allow the glue to dry.

    • 5

Place the coated photograph into the bottle cap. Mix the resin according to the manufacturer's instructions. Pour the resin into the bottle cap until the bottle cap is full and the resin domes.

    • 6

Be sure there are no bubbles in the resin. Remove any bubbles. If you do not know how to remove bubbles then see our eHow How to Remove Bubbles from Resin at http://www.ehow.com/how_5528538_remove-bubbles-resin.html or click the link in the resource section of this article.

Set the resin filled bottle cap aside. Allow the resin to dry overnight.
