How to Make a Pharaoh's Headdress

Add a nice finishing touch to an Egyptian pharaoh costume with a headdress. Make your own and you can not only save money, but also be in control of the design. Whether for a Halloween costume or school play, this craft is inexpensive and easy. Even the kids can get in on this costume craft.

Things You'll Need

Craft foam (enough to wrap around your head)
Stapler
Scissors
Wire ribbon
Two red plastic jewels
Fabric glue
Red construction paper
1 yard of fabric
Measuring tape

Instructions

  Cut two 3-inch wide pieces of craft foam.

  Staple the pieces together at one end. Wrap them around the person's head. It will overlap a little. Staple it closed, forming a band or circle. Remove any excess material.

  Cut about 6 inches of the wired ribbon. Tie knots into the ends of the ribbon. This will be your snake symbol for your pharaoh headdress. Take two red jewels and fabric glue. Glue the red jewels in place for the eyes.

  Cut out a tongue for the snake from the red construction paper. It can be as long or short as you want. Glue the paper to the snake symbol. Staple the finished snake to the craft foam headband.

  Cut a 20-inch circle from your 1 yard of fabric. This will be your headdress so the fabric can be any color you choose.

  Staple the fabric circle to the front of the headband. It should fall over the top of the person's head.
