Prefixes and Suffixes
Search the word you are trying to unscramble for common prefixes and suffixes. Prefixes are the beginning sections of words and suffixes are the ending sections of words. Find common prefixes such as ̶0;un,̶1; ̶0;up,̶1; and ̶0;re̶1; within your jumble of letters to make unscrambling them easier. Also look for suffixes such as ̶0;ed,̶1; ̶0;ion̶1; and ̶0;ing̶1; to find possible endings to the words. After locating a common suffix, search the letters you have remaining for a possible counterpart. If one suffix or prefix doesn̵7;t work, move onto another one.
Alphagrams
Learn the alphagrams of words. Alphagrams are like anagrams but arranged in alphabetical order. If you learn the alphagrams of words, it can become like a ̶0;key̶1; for anagrams. Focus on learning longer words if you wish to reduce the work inherent in this system. When you are presented with an anagram, you can simply make it an alphagram and see if you recognize it. If you̵7;ve looked at the alphagram before, you should be able to translate it into the actual word. Practice with cue cards if you have trouble remembering. Create a list of alphagrams you wish to remember, and write the alphagram on one side and the answer on the other. Use this to help your memory.
Linking
Some anagrams can have multiple solutions. For example, the anagram ̶0;nietoal̶1; can become both ̶0;toenail̶1; and ̶0;elation,̶1; and you may not initially realize these are linked. Using mental imagery can help you remember connected words like this. You could create a mental image where you find a mythical golden toenail and experience a deep elation. Invent something that makes you laugh and try to make it as vivid as possible to help your memory. Being able to choose between two possible anagrams can give you the edge in some games such as ̶0;Scrabble.̶1;
Other Techniques
Many other techniques exist for unscrambling letters, but these generally involve taking your time and studying words beforehand. Look over lists of common words, even by a specific word length if you wish. Read through unusual word lists as well, such as ones involving a Q for instance, which may be difficult to incorporate without an extended vocabulary. As well as this, always look for alternate words before choosing your answer. A better solution may be hiding amongst the letters somewhere.
