How to Keep Score in Axis & Allies

The game of Axis and Allies sees two players building armies to send into combat. This World War II strategy board game allows players to choose sides -- either Axis or Allied powers -- and do battle. Published by Nova Game Designs and republished by Milton Bradley, Axis and Allies was eventually folded into the Avalon Hill and later the Wizards of the Coast game lines.

Instructions

    • 1

Look at the card that corresponds to the game piece. On each unit's stat card are six attack values -- three against soldiers and three against vehicles.

    • 2

Roll the number of dice equal to your attack value. You are allowed to roll dice more than once.

    • 3

Count how many successful attacks you get; each roll of a four, five or six results in one success. A roll of one through three is a defeat.

    • 4

Look at the defense rating for the enemy's unit card. Compare the number of successes to this defense rating. If you had fewer successes than the defense rating, you missed, which means you won't put any hit counters on the enemy unit. If you rolled the same number of successes as the defense rating, you scored one hit. If you rolled a number greater than the defense, you scored two hits. If you rolled a number equal to or greater than twice the defense, you scored three hits.
