Things You'll Need
Instructions
Measure the area you have in which to make the board. For the purposes of this example, directions will assume a square board, 24 feet by 24 feet. Then measure the squares (or other shapes) you want to replicate on that board. This will work, if you work with proportions, for any item, but for this example, assume 2-inch square pieces, in an 8x8 pattern.
Calculate the size of the shapes for your life-size board. For the example, we're going from 2-inch by 2-inch squares to 36-inch by 36-inch squares, in an 8x8 pattern. For this board, multiply all line sizes by 18.
Measure out your lines and put down painter's tape or chalk them out. Once you're sure that this is the layout that you want, you can replace the tape or chalk with paint -- or just leave the chalk in place, depending on what you have permission to do.
Paint alternating squares red, starting with the lower left hand corner and moving in a "checkerboard" pattern throughout, if you have permission to paint. If you only have permission to use chalk, you can mark red circles in each square if you don't want to color the whole square in.
