How to Build a Knock Hockey Board

Knock hockey is a miniature version of ice or road hockey. Played on a wooden board designed to look like an ice hockey rink, knock hockey's main objective is the same as the game it's mirrored on: to shoot the puck into the opponent's goal. The board game was first introduced by the Carrom Company in 1942 under the name "Nok-Hockey," but you can build your own version of it with some scrap pieces of wood.

Instructions

    • 1

Lay both 2-foot long pieces of plywood on a flat surface. Measure and mark the middle point on the long side of the pieces.

    • 2

Make a mark 2 inches to either side of the mark you made in Step 1 on both pieces of plywood.

    • 3

Cut out a square goal between the marks you made in Step 2 that is 1.5 inches high on both pieces of plywood.

    • 4

Lay the 3-by-2-foot plywood on a flat surface.

    • 5

Apply wood glue to the bottom edges of the pieces of plywood from steps 1-3. Place them on the 2-foot edges of the 3-foot long piece of plywood. Make sure the wood is flush to the edges and press them firmly in place. Allow the glue to dry for 10 minutes.

    • 6

Apply wood glue to the bottom edges of the two 2 foot, 11.5-inch long plywood pieces. Place them on the 3-foot edges of the 3-foot long piece of plywood. Make sure the wood is flush to the edges and press them firmly in place. Allow the glue to dry for 10 minutes.

    • 7

Cut the 4 1-inch cube plywood blocks across their diagonals so that each is a triangle with one right angle.

    • 8

Apply wood glue to the bottoms of the triangular pieces and place one in each of the corners of the board. Press them firmly in place and allow them to dry for 10 minutes.

    • 9

Mark the spot in the board that is 1.5 feet away from the middle of both goals. Draw a circle around this spot with a black marker. This is the center of the board and the face-off circle.
