How to Build Dice for LEGO Race 3000

Race 3000 is one in a series of "buildable" games produced by Lego. It is an auto-racing themed game that features a race track built with Lego pieces. Gameplay in Race 3000 is regulated by a Lego dice -- a rubber-edged cube with four Lego snap-posts on each face where colored Lego tiles are attached. Suitable for two to four players, Race 3000 is unique in that the Lego dice is not assembled prior to beginning the game. Rather, the dice faces are populated with colored tiles by the players during the course of the game.

Instructions

    • 1

Snap one of the double-sized, orange "Turbo" tiles into place on one side of the Lego dice. Snap the other orange Turbo tile into place on the side directly opposite the first tile.

    • 2

Begin play by having the first player (the youngest, according to Race 3000 rules) roll the dice. Only four of the possible 24 tile positions on the dice are occupied by a colored tile at this point. The first player snaps one of his colored movement squares into place on the side of the dice facing upward after his roll.

    • 3

Proceed with play according to the rules of Race 3000. After each player rolls the dice, they snap one of their colored movement squares into place on a vacant snap-post on the upper-most dice face. Players continue to place movement squares on the Lego dice after each dice roll until either all six dice faces are full or all movement squares have been used.

    • 4

Use the Lego pry tool to remove all movement squares when the game is finished. Insert the tapered end of the tool under a movement square, then simply push downward with the tool to pry a square loose from the dice.
